Detailed job description includes disassembling, cleaning, assembling and testing instrumentation for proper functioning, assisting with teaching of new hires and working as a resource person for other staff, performing and participating in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging of medical/surgical materials, preparing trays and specialty carts for designated areas, using knowledge of different types of sterilization materials and equipment, and assisting in the maintenance of supply and materials inventory. Required qualifications include one (1) year of experience as a surgical sterilization tech, Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification by Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or surgical technologist program graduation, and a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred qualifications include completion of some college work and additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. Physical demands include ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 25 lbs.
