Opportunity

This position oversees the protection, preservation, and sustainable management of forested areas. Their responsibilities include developing and implementing management plans, monitoring forest health, conducting research, collaborating with stakeholders, and advocating for conservation policies.

Specific Responsibilities Creatingplans that align with conservation goals, consider ecological factors, andaddress potential risks like wildfires and pests. Track forest conditions andassess the impact of management activities on biodiversity. Conductstudies on tree species, forest ecosystems, and the impact of various factorson forest health. Regularlymonitor animal populations, habitat conditions, and environmental factors totrack trends and identify potential problems. They may also conduct research onanimal behavior, ecology, and habitat use to inform management decisions. Activelyparticipate and coordinate any wildlife abatement programs. Develop andimplement management plans to protect and conserve wildlife and their habitats.These plans may involve habitat restoration, reintroduction programs,population control measures, or other strategies. Play a rolein educating the public about wildlife, conservation, and responsiblerecreation. This may involve public outreach programs, educational materials,or hunter education courses. Work withother agencies, organizations, and individuals to coordinate conservationefforts and address complex issues. This may involve collaborating withresearchers, policymakers, or community groups. Enforcewildlife laws and regulations, including hunting licenses, conservationpermits, and environmental protection laws. This may involve patrolling areasand investigating violations. Develop andpromote policies that protect forest resources and promote sustainablepractices. Superviseforest workers, contractors, and volunteers involved in implementing managementplans. Provideregular updates on all assigned grounds and projects to Director - Agronomy Landscape. Present and participateat meetings as requested. Engage inpublic outreach and education initiatives to raise awareness about forestconservation and foster a sense of environmental stewardship. Ensuring asafe environment for all participants by managing risks and providing necessarysafety precautions. Being prepared torespond to emergencies and administer first aid if necessary. Developstrategies to prevent and suppress wildfires, manage invasive species, andmitigate other threats to forest health. Provideguidance and advice to landowners, developers, and other stakeholders on forestmanagement best practices. Maintain andprepare the necessary equipment for activities, ensuring it is in good workingorder and safe to use, including basicgunsmithing and maintenance on all River Wildlife owned firearms. Managestaffing for experiences (onboard, train, schedule, etc..), create SOPs asneeded, manage inventory, run daily reports as required and other day-to-dayoperational tasks. Collaborate with Food& Beverage teams, maintenance and landscaping teams as required. Motivatesand encourages staff to attain goals. Publicly recognized and recognizes othersfor exceptional work. Takesownership of problems, anticipates future needs of department. Anticipates future industry trends. Routinelyaccepts additional responsibility and related projects as requested. Supportsstrategic planning and goals. Advanced ability to anticipate and plan for dallymaintenance needs 1- 365 days in advance. Ability tocoordinate associate talents, availability, equipment and weather conditions. Ability toswitch plans at a moment's notice and remain calm and composed under stressfulsituations. Skills/Requirements

Bachelor'sdegree in environmental sciences, natural resource management, conservation,biology or forestry preferred; equivalent field experience will be considered. Must possessa valid Wisconsin Driver's License. Must possessor have the ability to obtain a category 3.0 WDATCP pesticide applicatorscertificate within 1 year of employment. Experiencewith gun handling/gun safety required. Gun handling and safety coursecompletion is required. Must possessor have the ability to obtain the International Society of Arboriculturecertified arborist credential when eligible to take the exam. Must be ableto lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
