Job Title: Image Data Scientist - Digital Pathology Location: South San Francisco, CA (Onsite - M-F, 8 hrs/day) Duration: Long-Term Contract Interview Process: Phone screening with RRP Google Meet (may be bypassed if strong in phone screening) In-person panel interview Description: Seeking a skilled Image Data Scientist to join the Digital Pathology team within Translational Safety, Pathology. The team focuses on advancing digital histopathology slide analysis by integrating computational methods into pathology workflows. This role will develop and apply image-processing pipelines using conventional techniques and AI-powered image analysis (machine learning/deep learning). The ideal candidate will be proficient in Python, have experience with commercial image analysis software (e.g., HALO), and be comfortable collaborating with pathologists, computational scientists, and cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement image analysis workflows for biological research questions. Apply and develop image-processing methods using machine learning and deep learning. Perform statistical analyses and create visualizations of image data. Collaborate with pathologists and data scientists to refine pathology workflows. Utilize commercial image analysis software for digital pathology whole slide images. Support interdisciplinary projects with strong communication and collaboration skills. Essential Skills: Background in computer science with strong interest in biomedical sciences. Proficient in Python (including libraries for image segmentation & statistical analysis). Comfortable with iterative design and open to frequent feedback. Strong interpersonal and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills. Desirable Skills: Algorithm development for digital pathology whole slide image analysis. Experience with HALO or other commercial image analysis software. Biomedical microscopy/image analysis experience. Skills in R, MATLAB, and statistical analysis. Proficiency with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras. Experience with Amazon EC2 cloud computing. Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field.
