Cardiac Catheterization/Special Procedures Technician
Performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization/special procedures and/or pacemaker checks/re-programming at a technical and professional level requiring no constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require responsible independent judgment. Assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required. Recognizes the purpose of employment is to prioritize the patient as number one achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction and to put forth the utmost quality as a Cath Lab/Pacemaker RT(R)/RN. Adheres to Scope of Practice Guidelines established by the ASRT/OBMI and/or OSBN. Required: Associates Degree or higher. Preferred: One year experience in cardiac catheterization or special procedures and/or pacemaker clinic. RCIS preferred. Lic/Reg/Cert: Valid Oregon Radiologic Technology License with ARRT Registry RCIS or CI preferred. Valid Oregon Nursing License. Typical Physical/Mental Demands: Strenuous physical demands. Ability to work in high stress situations and function at peak levels 24 a day. Must be able to participate in a rotating call schedule year-round. Provides service to patients of all age groups. Essential Job Functions: Participates in patient transport. Assists in pre-catheterization patient preparation. Documents all of the above on the correct forms and in the appropriate manner. Performs all other duties and responsibilities with pre and post-catheterization patient care and/or pre and post-PCM patient care. Participates in procedure room preparation. Assists with the performance of the procedures. Responds to emergency situations. Powers up and checks X-ray system Xper physiological monitor Medrad injector and Defibrillator and any other procedure specific equipment including but not limited to pacemaker interrogation equipment if applicable. Operates x-ray/digital equipment. Operates physiologic amplifiers monitors and computer during procedures. Performs quality control/preventive maintenance procedures on x-ray equipment pressure transducers video systems lead aprons as well as PCM programmers. Provides for the thorough and accurate documentation of each procedure and associated events. Communicates information effectively and promptly. Assists in inventory control. Assists in maintaining a safe working environment. Practices radiation safety techniques. Performs duties/working areas as scheduled. Maintains acceptable attendance record and follows hospital/departmental guidelines for clocking in and out. Participates in regular call coverage.
