If so, the under-the-roof (utr) planning tech team is looking for an experienced software development engineer ii with a strong record of achieving results to create solutions that solve our last mile's most complex operational challenges. As a key member of our engineering team, you will have the opportunity to work across multiple problem spaces using AI, machine learning, and all of the internet's latest and greatest technologies. You will be responsible for engineering new features that will shape how fulfillment evolves here at Amazon, with the freedom to innovate, experiment, and drive meaningful impact at unprecedented scale. Key job responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and deploying scalable, high-performance software solutions for complex labor planning challenges. You will translate business requirements into elegant technical designs that can scale with Amazon's growth. You will build and enhance services that optimize workforce allocation across fulfillment centers and delivery stations. You will collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and operations teams to define and build innovative solutions. You will write high-quality, maintainable code with comprehensive test coverage. You will participate in architecture discussions and help drive technical direction for the team. You will contribute to operational excellence by diagnosing and resolving production issues. You will mentor junior engineers and help elevate engineering practices across the team. You will participate in on-call rotations to support mission-critical services. Basic qualifications include 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience and 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience. Experience programming with at least one software programming language is required. Preferred qualifications include 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience. A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent is also preferred. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
