Job Summary:
As Vice President of Corporate Finance and Rating Agency Relations, you'll be at the forefront of our capital markets strategy and rating agency engagement-playing a pivotal role in how we're perceived by key financial stakeholders.
In this strategic position, you'll serve as the principal liaison with external rating agencies, leveraging your deep expertise in rating methodologies, capital modeling, and insurance financial frameworks to influence outcomes and drive results.
You'll work in a hybrid environment-three days onsite and two remote-from either our Warren, NJ or New York City office, giving you the flexibility to thrive while staying connected to our leadership team
Key Responsibilities
Rating Agency Relations Serve as a primary point of contact for rating agencies alongside the EVP of Corporate Finance and Treasurer.
Manage the day-to-day relationship with major rating agencies, including distributing and coordinating requests for information across internal stakeholders.
Lead the preparation, development, and delivery of materials for annual rating reviews and interim updates.
Partner with legal and finance teams to oversee rating agency agreements, negotiate fees, and manage ongoing data subscriptions.
Capital Modeling & Planning Provide subject matter expertise on rating agency capital models (e.g., BCAR, S&P, Moody's) and assist with their application to strategic planning and decision-making.
Contribute to the development of internal capital models that align with external rating agency expectations and financial tolerances.
Support overall corporate capital planning activities in collaboration with Treasury, Risk, and Actuarial teams.
Market & Peer Analysis Monitor and analyze developments in rating agency methodologies, insurance sector outlooks, and peer company ratings.
Prepare executive-level insights and presentations to ensure senior management remains informed of rating trends and competitive positioning.
Communicate key changes and insights regularly across internal finance, strategy, and executive leadership teams.
Governance & Review Coordinate the annual rating agency filing process, including data gathering, presentation updates, and internal review cycles.
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and strategic alignment in all communications with rating agencies.
Facilitate internal working groups or committees related to capital adequacy, rating strategy, and financial resiliency.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA, CFA, or CPA strongly preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in corporate finance within the insurance or financial services industry, including direct experience with rating agencies.
In-depth knowledge of rating agency methodologies (e.g., AM Best, S&P, Moody's, Fitch) and insurance industry capital frameworks.
Strong financial modeling, analytical, and presentation development skills.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to interact credibly at all levels, including external agencies and internal executives.
Experience working cross-functionally in a complex, global organization.
For NJ and NY:
The base salary range for this position is $210,000 - $260,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location. All offers include access to a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
