Billing Specialist
to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing insurance claims, verifying patient billing information, managing payments, and ensuring accuracy in financial records. Essential functions

- Submit, track, and follow up on insurance claims to ensure timely reimbursement. Insurance Verification
- Confirm patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to services. Payment Management
- Process patient payments, generate invoices, and resolve billing inquiries. Account Reconciliation
- Monitor accounts for discrepancies and take corrective action when necessary. Communication & Coordination
- Act as a liaison between patients, insurance providers, and medical staff regarding billing concerns. Customer Service
- Assist patients with billing-related questions and provide clear explanations of statements. Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Maintenance
- Accurately update billing information and maintain compliance with regulations.

- Working in a professional clinic, assisting with billing inquiries and claims processing. Patient & Provider Coordination
- Engaging with patients, insurance companies, and medical staff to resolve billing concerns. Administrative Duties
- Managing payments, submitting claims, and maintaining financial documentation. Compliance & Confidentiality
- Adhering to HIPAA regulations and ensuring patient financial privacy. Variable Hours
- Includes weekday shifts, variable hours between 8am until 6pm
Physical demands
The Billing Specialist position involves a combination of administrative tasks and direct patient interaction in a medical office environment. Physical requirements include: Prolonged periods of sitting and standing
while assisting patients and performing clerical duties. Frequent walking
throughout the office to coordinate with staff and escort patients. Manual dexterity
for handling medical records, operating office equipment, and processing payments. Occasional lifting
of office supplies, small medical devices, and patient-related materials (typically under 25 lbs). Clear verbal communication
for patient interactions, phone support, and coordination with medical professionals. Visual acuity
to review documentation, insurance information, and appointment schedules with accuracy. Ability to multitask

Required education and experience High school diploma or equivalent. 1+ years of experience in medical billing, healthcare administration, or customer service. Familiarity with insurance processing and reimbursement procedures. Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred education and experience Coursework or a certification in medical billing, healthcare administration, or a related field. 2+ years of experience in a medical office or ophthalmology practice. Knowledge of insurance verification, medical billing codes, and HIPAA compliance. Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-location healthcare setting.
