Join Our Team as a Transition House Manager!
Are you passionate about helping individuals in need and making a positive impact in your community? Southeastern Directions for Life in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Transition House Manager to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide support and guidance to individuals transitioning out of crisis situations and help them rebuild their lives.
Responsibilities
  • Hire, train, supervise, and, when necessary, terminate transitional housing staff
  • Ensure all shifts are covered, including arranging last-minute coverage or personally filling in as needed
  • Monitor staff compliance with required trainings and job expectations; assign and oversee completion of additional tasks
  • Review referrals and conduct interviews with potential residents to assess program fit
  • Oversee room readiness for move-ins/move-outs, including cleaning, stocking, and weekly room inspections
  • Communicate with the landlord to coordinate and follow up on maintenance needs
  • Enforce house rules and resident conduct policies; issue write-ups or infractions and carry out evictions if necessary
  • Address behavioral or program-related concerns, including contacting probation officers, case managers, or other support staff
  • Lead or delegate regular house meetings to promote resident input and accountability
  • Assign and track deposits and rental amounts; collect payments and communicate with the business office for processing
  • Coordinate with the business office on move-ins/outs, payment tracking, and grant documentation
  • Maintain and update lease agreements, house rules, and program documentation as needed
The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in social work, psychology, or a related field, as well as experience working with individuals facing crisis situations. You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Most importantly, you must have a genuine desire to help others and make a positive impact in their lives.
