About This Role

Alumni Ventures is seeking a full-time, experienced Investor for our

Blue Ivy Ventures Fund

for the Yale community. The role is part of a team that also invests for the

Princeton-focused

and

HealthTech

funds at Alumni Ventures, with overlapping responsibilities within the team.

The primary focus of the role is deal sourcing, investing, and portfolio management. The funds primarily focus on Seed/A stages, with about one-third of work in Growth stage deals. Alumni Ventures is a multi-sector fund; this role is for a generalist investing professional.

This individual will also research and evaluate potential investment opportunities and manage relationships with portfolio companies and other venture investors. Alumni Ventures co-invests alongside established venture funds. The successful candidate will source high-quality investments and contribute to creating an annual portfolio of approximately 20-30 venture investments.

This position can be based in our Boston or New York office and is a hybrid role, requiring at least 4 days per week in the office. Alumni Ventures offers a fast-paced, professional, entrepreneurial environment.

What You'll Do

Source and research potential investment opportunities, developing and maintaining the deal pipeline.

Develop investment memos and facilitate Investment Committee processes.

Assist in monitoring existing investments and support founders in the portfolio.

Maintain fund performance metrics in collaboration with AV finance support.

Manage deal flow and database inputs.

Conduct outreach to VCs, entrepreneurs, and incubators to fill the deal pipeline.

Vet potential deals, including interviewing company teams, competitors, and customers.

Present companies and collaborate with the Managing Partner and other teams.

Educate deal sources and entrepreneurs about AV and manage relationships professionally.

Work with sibling funds to identify mutual investment opportunities.

Develop and maintain proprietary deal and market intelligence.

Contribute positively to AV's culture.

Requirements

MBA or other advanced degree; Yale degree preferred.

Passion for technology.

2-5 years of venture capital experience, plus 5-10 years of overall work experience.

Additional startup experience is valued, with potential for title of Principal or Senior Principal.

Salary:

$175,000-185,000 plus bonus, carry, and equity.
