Environmental Health and Safety Specialist
To provide EHS assistance to site management in the prevention of occupational injuries and security incidents. This position possesses most technical skills of Safety Specialists/Engineers, Environmental Specialists/Engineers and Industrial (Occupational) Hygienists. This position is dedicated to single site support along with collaborative work with Milwaukee and corporate personnel.
- Ensure site personnel are competent in performing Risk Assessments and ensuring needed Risk Assessments are completed.
- Identify risk reduction methods and work with site management in implementing those methods.
- Conduct EHS related training for employees including participation in new employee training program.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure site personnel are competent in performing safety inspections.
- Interact routinely with site management, supervision and personnel on EHS related matters.
- Prepare EHS compliance related reports and correspondence, both internally and externally (regulatory bodies).
- Support Operations by engaging with all levels of the organization and serving as primary point of contact for Pac3, Pro4, and UPO departments.
- Ensure site's EHS Management System is in place and functioning effectively.
Physical Attributes:
- Noise level in office environment is generally quiet.
- Sit, stand, hear, and use hands to operate all office equipment.
- Employee must view computer monitors for long periods of time.
- Vision requirements are close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- May lift, generally no more than 25 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in an EHS discipline (Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, etc.) or Scientific discipline (Environmental Science, Chemistry, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Environmental compliance standards especially pertaining to chemical manufacturing.
- Occupational Health and Safety standards especially pertaining to chemical manufacturing, maintenance activities and product distribution.
- Musculoskeletal disorder prevention, Chemical, biological laboratory safety and Hazard control methods.
- Industrial ventilation (general and local exhaust) and basic indoor air contaminant control methods.
- Basic industrial toxicology
- Personal protective equipment including PPE program administration.
- Basic Industrial (Occupational) Hygiene assessment and sampling methods.
- Basic Accident investigation methods and Electrical safety fundamentals.
- Basic hazardous work (confined space entry, hot work and line breaking) safety fundamentals.
- Flammable, combustible liquids safety and risk assessment fundamentals.
- Basic Life Safety (emergency egress, lighting and alarms) practices.
- Basic fire detection, suppression methods and incipient fire suppression techniques.
