Assistant Director Equipment Operations And Brand Management

Under the supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director Equipment Operations and Brand Management and the Director Equipment Operations and Brand Management, the Assistant Director Equipment Operations and Brand Management provides support for assigned sports. The Assistant Director communicates daily with Head Coaches, coaching staff, student athletes, trainers, Athletic Administration, and vendors. S/he will advise coaching staff, student athletes and trainers of equipment and services available. S/he will manage inventory, place orders and receive inventory, provide laundry service, and perform other tasks as assigned.

Examples of Duties
  • Assist in the management of cleaning and collection of athletic apparel and equipment for the teams assigned to this position.
  • Ensure the distribution of practice and game apparel and that equipment is cleaned and returned to appropriate coaches and student-athletes with attention to adequate stain removal and uniform and equipment repair.
  • Full preparation of apparel/equipment issue for each assigned team of season start up. Contact coaching staff to determine equipment to be issued and schedule issue date.
  • Maintain up-to-date inventory systems, store inventory properly, and dispose of outdated inventory according to compliance standards.
  • Follow unusable apparel procedures for surplus and discard. Work with the coaching staff to encourage disposal of outdated inventory.
  • Assist the Director with yearly inventory, external and internal communication, invoicing and billing. Tracks inventory using Front Rush and Excel databases keeping data entries up to date.
  • Assist with purchasing, receiving and shipping, laundry services, equipment room storage and inventory, issuance, repair, and maintenance of equipment apparel and machinery. Notify coaches in a timely manner of all issues pertaining to these areas.
  • Research and make recommendations and/or decisions regarding purchases, equipment repairs and transportation of equipment while adhering to budget and purchasing guidelines.
  • Work with vendors and internal clients to resolve any issues regarding equipment.
  • Order equipment in a timely schedule to ensure that all equipment is ready for use for practice and competition.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation on all bids, approvals and other correspondence relating to purchasing inventory.
  • Coordinate logistics and transportation of equipment and supplies to all regular and post-season games and practices both in-state and out of the state.
  • Oversee the training, work performance and evaluation of student managers, graduate assistants and part-time employees, as applicable.
  • Required to work overtime as needed for practices and regular and post-season games.
  • Position requires weekend and holiday hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Prior experience working in Division 1 Collegiate Athletic Equipment Room.
  • Prior experience with inventory management software.
  • Basic knowledge of laundry procedures and stain removal.
  • Basic knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of athletic equipment room operations and records maintenance.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Organized, detailed, a self-starter, and able to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Athletic Equipment Managers Association certification or certifiable within one year.
  • Prior experience with Front Rush or ARMS inventory software
  • Prior experience with Nike, adidas, or UnderArmour.
Supplemental Information
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • AEMA Certified Equipment Manager or certified within 2 years of hire.
