Description
This is a part-time position.
This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating a balanced recreation program for diverse populations of individuals with disabilities at the Karl J. Drews Community Center. The primary function is to lead and facilitate group activities for children and adults with disabilities in various programs, including Summer Camp programs, Adult Variety Club, and special fun days, as well as social events, community integration, special interest groups, arts & crafts, swimming, sports, and recreational activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES:
All County employees are required to work before, during, or after an emergency as needed. This may include temporarily being assigned to work and performing duties outside of the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides excellent customer service, and resolves any potential conflicts.
- Creates program flyers and schedules for participants, parents, and caregivers.
- Promotes and markets LCPR's special needs programs through event notifications, and by participating in and speaking at special needs events and resource functions.
- Other duties include general clerical, maintenance and cleaning of the Karl Drews Community center, set up and break down for programs, special events, community meetings, facility rentals, handling and documenting behavior issues with participants, medicine dispensing and documentation, review of participants' assessments, I.E.P.s , and any applicable behavior plans.
- Requires any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from High School or GED and six months working with special-needs population or closely related experience.
- First Aid and CPR training required within six months of hire or employment will end.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
- Effective Communication: Proficient in both verbal and written communication.
- Programming Knowledge: Familiar with current trends in Parks & Recreation activities, including games and field trips.
- Customer Service: Capable of providing prompt, professional, and courteous service to the public.
- Physical Requirements: Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in all seasons.
- Mathematical Skills: Competent in basic math, report preparation, and maintenance.
- Interpersonal Skills: Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues and the general public.
- Clerical Abilities: Proficient in operating basic office equipment for clerical tasks.
- Work Schedule: Available to work varying days and hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
