Our leading Midwest-based recruiting firm is partnering with a prominent transportation company to find a talented Corporate Tax Accountant. The company, headquartered in the north suburbs of Indianapolis, is a private equity-owned company and is poised for further growth through mergers and acquisitions. This role is a newly created position, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to serve as the company's internal tax expert.

In this role, you will be the go-to person for all tax-related needs, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager. You'll be a key member of the finance team, responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, supporting tax planning initiatives, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws. The work environment is collaborative, and you'll coordinate with multiple teams during the month-end close process. You will also work closely with an external CPA firm for guidance on tax matters. The company operates on a hybrid schedule, with in-office work required Monday through Thursday and a flexible remote option on Fridays.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns.
• Assist with quarterly and annual tax provisions (ASC 740).
• Calculate and file monthly sales and use taxes, as well as annual state personal property taxes.
• Conduct tax research and analyze changes in tax regulations.
• Support internal and external tax audits.
• Prepare and record journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Respond to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting.
• A CPA designation or progress toward certification is preferred but not required.

Compensation and Benefits

The company offers a competitive salary based on experience, ranging from $80,000 to $90,000, plus bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
