  • Responsible for general ledger reconciliation, analysis of financial accounts, and preparation of journal entries. Assists others with difficult reconciliations.
  • Completes all monthly and quarterly investment accounting functions including the posting of all investment purchases and maturities and ensures that proper documentation is maintained in investment files.
  • Prepare the monthly financial statements of the credit union and compile the board package. This will involve collecting information from various departments and providing to the CEO for final review.
  • Assists with the timely completion and filing of the quarterly NCUA call report (5300) and other routine external financial reporting such as the FHLB certification.
  • Provide guidance for accounts payable, ACH, wire, and share draft operations.
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of procedures for the accounting department including accounts payable, ACH, Investment reporting, board package, and Call Report. Ensure that procedures reflect current regulations and that the accounting procedures are in strict compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Conduct special accounting studies, analyses, and special projects as requested by management.
  • Assists the department in internal, external, and regulatory audits.
  • Identify, recommend, and assist in implementing process improvements.
  • As time permits, may be involved in creating the quarterly financial statement forecast and use of the ProfitStars system.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a minimum of a bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or other business related field.
5 or more years of relevant experience in the accounting department of a Credit Union or Bank.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to communicate with co-employees, members, and vendors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts as required such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and statistics are required.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
A valid state issued drivers license and permit to work in the U.S.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to operate a personal computer with a high level of proficiency in applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to use an adding machine.
