Summary
The Bursar, under the direct supervision of the AVP of Financial Services or other designated leader, is responsible for overseeing the management of student accounts and payment at the designated Carrington College location. This role ensures accurate record-keeping and timely payments, while aligning with institutional policies and goals. The Bursar engages students to discuss account status, offer solutions for resolving balances, and provide guidance on financial responsibilities. A strong understanding of loan repayment plans and default prevention strategies is crucial. Additionally, the Bursar will lead outreach efforts, including in-person meetings and strategic communication via calls, texts, and emails, to foster positive student relationships, enhance repayment efforts, and ensure financial success at assigned campus.

  • Monitor student account balances and ensure accounts remain current.
  • Proactively contact students to discuss their Institutional Financing Plan, payment options, and account status; monitor overdue accounts, initiate outreach efforts, and develop personalized strategies to help students understand and effectively manage their financial obligations and reduce delinquency rates
  • Foster strong relationships with students, provide a supportive environment to address financial concerns and resolve outstanding balances.
  • Collaborate with student services and academic departments to address financial issues and support student success.
  • Provide financial counseling to students, explaining payment options, installment plans, and strategies to keep accounts current.
  • Ensure compliance with College policies regarding student account payments and monitor adherence to federal regulations and privacy laws.
  • Safeguard sensitive student information, always maintaining confidentiality.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve efficiency, and enhance student account management.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, such as student services and finance, to address student inquiries and escalate issues as needed.
  • Use Tuition Options systems and Bi to track account status and ensure accurate, up-to-date records.
  • Document all interactions and financial details in the Web Client system, maintaining complete student records.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education And/or Experience
  • Associate Degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of financial aid and/or accounting administration experience, including Title IV aid programs or the equivalent
  • Prior Financial Aid, Finance, Accounting, Banking, or Loan industry
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Superior organizational, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Outlook, Word, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint.
