Senior Financial Analyst
The Senior Financial Analyst will play a pivotal role in the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team in assessing ICANN's financial performance and driving strategic decision-making within the organization. Leveraging experience in financial analysis and forecasting, the Senior Financial Analyst will provide valuable insights to their business partners and senior management, guiding key initiatives and optimizing financial outcomes. The Senior Financial Analyst's analytical skills, attention to detail, and strategic mindset will be instrumental in identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for ICANN's funding and expenses.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive financial analyses, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting, to provide valuable insights and support decision-making.
- Develop and maintain financial models to enable business planning and assess changes in the financial forecast.
- Responsible for coordination, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the budgeting, forecasting and management reporting processes.
- Responsible for business partnering with assigned departments and to set up regular meetings to review financial and operational results, identify corrective actions needed (coding, budget classifications, accruals, or other issues) and to manage financial outcomes.
- Prepare actual vs. budget and forecasts management reporting with detailed variance explanations and present findings to department/budget owners.
- Project manage and drive organizational initiatives from development to completion.
- Prepare business review presentations, the annual budget presentation, and board support documents for internal and external publication.
- Partner with the Accounting team to review and book accruals, reclassifications, and other journal entries as part of the monthly close process to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial results.

- Well-developed understanding of business fundamentals: strategies, operating models, functions, and macroeconomics.

- Finance and Accounting experience, including financial statements reporting, consolidations, variance analysis, data analysis, forecasting and budgeting.
- Learning agility, intellectual curiosity and adaptability in assuming new responsibilities and handling unfamiliar material.
- Finance experience at a high-growth startup or Fortune 500, ideally a blend of both.
- Experience with project analysis including financial reporting and analysis of project expenses versus budget and providing actionable insights to support project leadership.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems and high level of proficiency in Excel (lookup formulas, pivots, macros, etc.) and PowerPoint is required.
- Ability to distill complex analyses and nuanced problems into concrete action plans.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business. o MBA or relevant certification (e.g., CPA or CFA) is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in Finance.
- Fluency, both written and spoken, in English is required.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Comfort level with an international work environment that sometimes requires availability at times outside of normal business hours, seven days per week.
- Perform work in a normal office environment with limited privacy and some exposure to background noise.
- Work location is the ICANN office in Playa Vista, CA.
