Allegheny Health Network Emergency Medical Technician
General Overview: Provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured patients in the pre-hospital and hospital environment; effectively communicates with all persons and departments involved in the administration of emergency medical care.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Determines nature and extent of illness or injury; provide basic life support and transport to the critically ill and injured in the prehospital setting.
- Drives emergency vehicle.
- Completes required documentation according to regulatory standards.
- Maintains equipment and inventory of supplies including BLS and ALS and has accountability for medications on every EMS unit per regulatory standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- PA EMT certification or EMS Compact Privilege to Practice in Pennsylvania at the EMT level.
- EMSVO within 30 days of hire.
- Valid Driver's License.
- CPR American Heart Association.
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
Preferred:
- Six months' experience in the field of prehospital care.
- ITLS/PHTLS, ABLS, ASLS.
