Currently, our client is looking to add a Senior Cost Accountant to the team.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $95k - $125k
Position Overview: The Senior Cost Accountant supports financial operations by analyzing production costs, preparing journal entries, and maintaining accurate inventory and standard costing records. This position plays a critical role in financial reporting, pricing analysis, budgeting, and project evaluation to support strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities of the Senior Cost Accountant:
- Monitor and analyze departmental financial accounts and reconcile overhead expenses to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Review and update general ledger (GL) account reconciliations. Investigate discrepancies and resolve account issues.
- Evaluate cost changes (pricing, raw materials, labor, overhead) to support pricing strategies and cost-saving initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Operations teams to ensure clarity and accuracy of financial information for effective performance monitoring.
- Maintain computerized standard cost and inventory systems to ensure access to accurate and timely data.
- Support the capital budgeting process to ensure alignment with financial policies and goals.
- Conduct feasibility studies and evaluations of new products, services, or methods for cost and revenue impact.
- Assist the Division Controller and leaders during month-end close, budgeting cycles, cost updates, and pricing reviews.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Cost Accountant:
- 2 - 4 years of related work experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with computerized inventory and costing systems.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Cost Accountant:
- Advanced ERP systems experience.
- 5 - 7 years of experience in corporate accounting.
- Effective communication skills and experience working with corporate stakeholders.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
