General Manager
to lead our Kansas City branch-one of our largest and most strategic market.
Position Summary
The
General Manager
will play a critical leadership role in shaping and executing ISC's sales, marketing, and operational strategy for the Kansas City region. This role requires a balanced focus on achieving short- and long-term business goals while overseeing sales performance, customer satisfaction, warehouse operations, and overall branch efficiency. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, hands-on leader, and exceptional communicator with deep experience in sales management and operations within construction or industrial supply markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing Leadership
Support and execute digital and traditional marketing strategies to grow regional brand visibility and sales. Conduct competitive market research to assess industry trends and identify growth opportunities. Develop marketing plans for current and prospective customers. Manage product positioning and the introduction of new products to market. Partner with ISC's central marketing team to develop product literature, campaigns, and promotional materials. Represent ISC at industry events and with trade organizations.
Sales Management
Lead and develop the inside and outside sales teams, driving accountability and performance. Build strong relationships with key accounts across strategic sourcing, engineering, production, and field operations. Oversee all sales activities including business planning, forecasting, and product development support. Analyze sales metrics, customer feedback, and market trends to guide strategy. Report regularly on regional performance, pipeline status, and opportunities for growth. Maintain and grow key supplier relationships while ensuring the sales team is fully trained and engaged.
Operations Oversight
Direct branch logistics, warehouse, transportation, and tool room operations. Streamline distribution processes and ensure full-cycle order fulfillment efficiency. Monitor compliance with safety, legal, and industry-specific regulations. Lead warehouse staff training and implement performance improvements. Use data and KPIs to assess and enhance operational performance and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Operations, or a related field preferred. 7+ years of leadership experience in sales and/or operations management, preferably in construction, distribution, or industrial supply. Proven ability to manage teams and drive performance in both sales and operational functions. Strong understanding of supply chain, logistics, and warehouse practices. Exceptional leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with the capacity to influence and collaborate cross-functionally.
