A leading snack food company is seeking an
EHS Specialist
to join its plant in the greater Salt Lake City area. The EHS Specialist will play a key role in developing and sustaining a world-class Health, Safety, and Environmental program. This position is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, driving a strong safety culture, and supporting continuous improvement across the facility.

What You'll Be Doing: Develop and implement site-specific EHS programs and plans. Deliver safety training and coaching across all levels of the organization. Lead risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies. Serve as a resource for associates, promoting engagement in EHS initiatives. Investigate incidents and near misses, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions. Provide technical expertise in EHS matters, including capital project reviews. Use data-driven approaches to prioritize and influence EHS initiatives. Manage environmental compliance programs including waste reduction and energy efficiency. Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and maintain environmental records. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sustainability practices with company goals. Partner with production teams to embed safety culture and meet EHS objectives. Align EHS initiatives with food safety and hygiene protocols. Conduct safety meetings and campaigns to promote a safety-first mindset. Promote Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in production and packaging. Identify and implement innovative EHS solutions for reducing risks and promoting employee safety. Stay current on regulatory changes and industry best practices.
What You Bring: Associate's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Food Science, or related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in EHS roles in food & beverage manufacturing industry. Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, FDA, and GMP requirements. EHS certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM preferred. Experience with EHS management systems and food safety frameworks such as HACCP or SQF. Skilled in incident investigation and corrective action planning. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Proven ability to drive EHS programs and cultural change. Knowledge of local and federal EHS regulations and audit requirements. Experience in waste management and continuous improvement initiatives.
