About the Role
Sullivan Street Bakery is seeking a Pastry Assistant to join our passionate team at our flagship location in Hell’s Kitchen. This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to refine their pastry skills in a hands-on, supportive, and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in daily production of pastries, viennoiserie, cakes, cookies, scones, and house-made ice creams
- Learn and execute techniques for laminated dough and other advanced pastry methods
- Accurately measure, mix, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and instructions
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards in the kitchen
- Operate and care for bakery equipment and tools
- Conduct quality checks and ensure consistency in presentation
- Help manage stock rotation and ingredient inventory
- Work closely with front-of-house to meet daily production targets and assist in new product development
Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional pastry experience
- Strong foundation in laminated dough, cakes, and frozen desserts
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
- Strong sense of teamwork and a positive, can-do attitude
- Strong communication skills
- Availability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- NYC Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)
