Marshall Health Network is seeking a Backup and Recovery Administrator to join our Technical Services team. This position is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and testing of our disaster recovery infrastructure. The role ensures the security, reliability, and performance of data backups across the organization and plays a key role in business continuity and IT resilience.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, technically skilled, and able to effectively collaborate across departments to deliver robust backup and recovery solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer daily operations of the organization's backup and recovery environment.
  • Support and maintain disaster recovery infrastructure and tools.
  • Recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Document recovery testing processes and ensure consistent reporting.
  • Provide expert advice for planning and testing backup and recovery systems.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between departments, vendors, and partners for recovery processes.
  • Ensure all backup systems are patched, updated, and meet security standards.
  • Support help desk staff with backup-related service tickets.
  • Evaluate system capacity and propose enhancements as needed.
  • Audit and document recovery procedures to ensure accuracy and recoverability.
  • Lead and participate in disaster recovery simulations and exercises.
  • Identify and address technical gaps affecting recovery operations.
  • Track and report incidents to strengthen future recovery outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Relevant certification(s) such as CBCP, CBCI, or ISO 22301 preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in business continuity and/or backup and recovery solutions.
  • Healthcare or hospital IT experience is highly preferred.
Skills:
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure and backup technologies.
  • Ability to independently manage complex technical assignments.
  • Skilled in server, storage, and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with disaster recovery/business continuity tools and planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to push/pull objects under 35 pounds.
  • Capable of fine motor skills (e.g., writing, grasping, typing).
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and ability to operate computer equipment.
  • Ability to hear standard sounds with background noise.
  • Must be mobile and able to navigate between workspaces.
