VP Finance Operations
Valeris is seeking a highly motivated and experienced VP of Finance Operations, a key senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial infrastructure, systems, and processes that support scalable and efficient business financial operations.
This role leads the operational finance function supporting the end-to-end order-to-cash process across 6 different business lines. Reporting to the CFO, the VP will collaborate with leadership across departments such as finance, operations, and legal to ensure financial integrity, compliance, and strategic enablement. The position requires transforming, automating, and enhancing processes and controls to enable a scalable finance operations function.
Responsibilities
Finance Operations Oversight
Develop treasury strategy, oversee treasury operations, and manage cash in a multi-bank environment, ensuring adequate balances for program demands.
Lead financial reviews with clients as needed.
Manage billing and collections for all business lines, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing.
Handle prefund management, contract adjustments, and customer negotiations.
Interpret customer contracts and support related activities.
Drive adherence to month-end close processes.
Oversee accounts payable processes for patient affordability programs.
Monitor prefund balances and aged AR, implementing corrective actions.
Partner with Client Services on financial health assessments of programs.
Establish KPIs for operational finance metrics and promote self-service reporting.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of P&L and balance sheet reporting, including reconciliation processes.
Provide operational insights for decision-making and risk management.
Identify root causes of cross-functional problems and develop solutions.
Support new product/service launches through well-defined finance processes.
Process Optimization and Automation
Lead initiatives to improve efficiency and scalability.
Implement automation tools to reduce manual workflows and cycle times.
Maintain updated process documentation and controls.
Assess current processes and develop a 3-year optimization roadmap.
Financial Systems and Technology
Manage NetSuite for O2C processes, ensuring system integration and data integrity.
Create a technology roadmap for automation and process streamlining.
Lead system upgrades, implementations, and migrations.
Build business cases for system integrations to streamline invoicing.
Internal Controls and Compliance
Ensure compliance with SOPs and policies.
Maintain robust internal controls aligned with GAAP and audit requirements.
Develop control frameworks addressing key risks.
Ensure timely client invoicing and support for audits.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
Build strong relationships with Client Services, finance, and legal teams.
Provide insights to support accurate forecasting and budgeting.
Establish banking relationships and present financial updates to executives.
Leadership and Team Development
Lead and mentor a team of ~6 internal staff and ~6 offshore partners.
Foster a high-performance, accountable culture.
Set SMART objectives and development plans.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
15+ years of experience in accounting and finance operations, with revenue recognition expertise.
At least 5 years managing teams, including offshore teams preferred.
CPA certification required.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Experience in pharmaceutical or related industries preferred.
Proven track record overseeing finance functions such as AP, AR, billing, revenue, and treasury.
Audit experience and establishing financial controls preferred.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, ASC 606, deferred revenue, and internal controls.
Deep familiarity with NetSuite and finance automation projects.
Proven project management skills and cross-functional collaboration experience.
Ability to identify control weaknesses and drive improvements.
Track record of leading and scaling high-performing teams.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Regularly required to talk, hear, sit for long periods, type, handle, and reach.
Must type at least 35 WPM with 97% accuracy.
Flexibility to travel as needed.
Operate in a professional office environment with standard equipment.
