The contract may be extended beyond June 30, 2025, possibly for 6-12+ months. VDOT's probationary period for this position is three months, during which the candidate is expected to be onsite in Richmond, VA 3-4 days per week. After this period, the position may transition to a largely remote role, with a minimum onsite requirement of 1 week per quarter (to support leadership Town Hall sessions), and additional time as needed for specific assignments. Responsibilities: Create overall application and solution architectures, component designs, and systems integration and implementations for specific business solutions. Lead efforts in defining, documenting, and estimating for enterprise applications, including requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware, OS environment, topologies, interfaces, checks, controls, inputs, and outputs. Collaborate with IT staff to assess business needs and translate them into automated solutions. Produce solution design artifacts such as technical estimates, system designs, sequence diagrams, and data models. Coordinate new system development to ensure integration with existing systems and COTS solutions. Analyze feasibility and compatibility with hardware and other programs; consult with clients to prototype and design applications. Work with Business areas and Enterprise Architects to understand needs and provide strategic advice. Partner with architects and technical teams to develop roadmaps and strategies supporting KPIs. Design and implement enterprise security and technology patterns. Provide guidance on initiatives and architecture considerations on legacy solutions. Qualifications: Experience with SAFe architecture and Agile/Scrum teams. Experience in developing enterprise and solution architecture designs. Experience linking cross-functional applications across business units. Knowledge of requirements analysis, business process modeling, data mapping. Knowledge of relational database design and management. Strong project management skills and experience with project lifecycle models. Knowledge of software quality assurance practices. Competency with XML schemas and constructs. Experience with API protocols like SOAP and REST. Understanding of end-user needs and organizational goals.
