The pay rate for this part time position is $28/hour. Hourly wage is based on experience and geographical location.

Flexible work schedule Reimbursable travel time and mileage Traveling Medical Lab Technicians are responsible for:

Performing venipuncture on children and adult participants Recording of oral exam findings as provided by dental hygienist Providing instruction to the participant for self-collection of urine and oral rinse Administering screening questions to participants and determine fasting status Receiving and recording blood and other biological samples Labeling and processing blood, urine, and other biospecimens Setting up/packing up the phlebotomy room and maintain equipment Entering data into biological sample management system Performing quality control activities (e.g., follow QC checklist) as instructed Preparing shipments of biological samples according to international and U.S. regulations Support other MEC data collection tasks as needed (i.e., obtaining informed consent, recording oral health exams) Attending project training, completing RTI required courses and certification by end of training May be cross trained to complete additional data collection activities within their scope and qualifications (i.e., oral rinse collection, STI test collection with education, collection of blood pressure or body measurements) as required This position involves lifting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds Assist in setting up and shutting down the MEC including handling stair components, floor covers and expansion sides of the vehicles RTI International is hiring part-time Traveling Certified Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) to support the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). NHANES conducts health examinations in a Mobile Examination Center (MEC) with participants recruited by field staff.

The MLT will collect and process biological samples from children and adults, including blood, urine, and plasma. They will also support other data collection activities within their scope and qualifications, such as administering screening questions, recording oral exam findings, and assisting with participant check-in and check-out counseling.

Minimum 21 years old Associate degree from an accredited institution A minimum of 1 year of experience as an MLT in a CLIA certified health care setting Experience performing both pediatric and adult phlebotomy OR equivalent combination of at least 4 years of experience in a CLIA certified health care setting may be considered CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 3 months Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and shipping regulations for biological samples Basic computer proficiency and clerical skills Good organizational skills with an eye to detail Ability to work independently and in a team environment Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications for Ideal Candidates:

Fluency in Spanish Obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for driving the MEC vehicles (38 feet in length and over 26,000 lbs. in weight) to various study locations

This is a part-time position averaging 25 hours per week over the course of the data collection period. Overnight travel is required and while on travel the work schedule is typically 5 days and 40 hours per week. Work schedule on non-travel weeks will vary. Most work occurs on weekdays between 7 AM and 7 PM, based on the data collection schedule, with occasional evenings and weekends. Initial data collection period is expected to run through December 2026, with potential extension through 2030. Must commit to a minimum of one year Traveling Medical Lab Technicians are required to complete trainings which include:
