Position Overview

The HR Benefits & Operations Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the efficient and compliant administration of employee benefits and human resources operations for the Cambridge Public Schools. This position is responsible for independently managing and executing a wide range of HR processes, including benefits enrollment and changes, employee onboarding, CORI and fingerprint processing, leave administration support, and service agreement processing.

The Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits and HR processes, providing high-quality customer service while ensuring data accuracy, regulatory compliance, and confidentiality. This role requires advanced proficiency in PeopleSoft and TalentEd systems, strong organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to support district-wide HR functions.

Key Responsibilities

Benefits Coordination

Coordinate and oversee the full cycle of benefits processes, including enrollments, life event changes, and terminations for health, dental, life insurance, and related programs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with district policies. Serve as a resource for employees and retirees, providing expert guidance on plan options, eligibility criteria, and enrollment requirements, and resolving complex inquiries with professionalism and discretion. Manage and monitor COBRA notifications, premium collection for employees on leave, and other specialized benefits transactions, ensuring timely follow-through and documentation. Ensure the integrity of all benefits data and maintain proactive communication. Partner with the Benefits & HRIS Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute the annual Open Enrollment process, including system configuration, targeted employee communications, and seamless enrollment processing. HR Operations

Oversee the processing of service agreements, ensuring timely and accurate workflows in PeopleSoft and TalentEd. Manage employee onboarding tasks, including initiating TalentEd workflows, coordinating background checks (CORI and fingerprinting), and ensuring all required documentation is complete. Provide administrative support for employee leave processing, including FMLA, ADA, parental leave, and sick bank requests, ensuring proper documentation and system updates. Serve as the primary liaison for worker's compensation claims, partnering with the City of Cambridge's Leave of Absence Administrator/ADA Coordinator to ensure accurate documentation, timely communication, and compliance with applicable regulations. Collaborate with the HR Operations Manager, HR School Partners, Payroll, and Finance to ensure communication, data integrity across systems and compliance with district policies. Systems Administration and Data Integrity

Enter and update employee records in PeopleSoft and TalentEd to ensure accuracy and compliance. Maintain familiarity with related HR systems, including Red Rover, Droplet, and TeachPoint, to provide cross-functional support as needed. Customer Service and Communication

Respond to employee inquiries with professionalism, accuracy, and a commitment to service excellence. Prepare clear, concise, and accurate written communications regarding HR processes, deadlines, and requirements. Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee information. Required

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in human resources, benefits administration, or HR operations. Proficiency with PeopleSoft and TalentEd systems; experience with Red Rover, Droplet, and TeachPoint a plus. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across a diverse workforce. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in HR practices.

Terms of Employment

Temporary, full-time, nonaligned, exempt position. This role is anticipated to be full-time for the duration of the temporary assignment. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet operational needs. As an exempt position, this role is not eligible for overtime compensation under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Salary: $87,000-$98,000 annually
