Description

The Senior Designer will lead the design and development of stylish, trend-driven children's apparel (sizes 4-20) that aligns with the brand's DNA and meets client needs. Managing product from concept through production, this role combines strong creative vision with technical expertise and commercial awareness. The Senior Designer will design for fashion trend sportswear, while ensuring that each season's assortment reflects market trends, brand aesthetics, and sales objectives.

As a key liaison with Sales, Merchandising, Technical Design, and Production, the Senior Designer will oversee the full product lifecycle-driving innovation, maintaining quality standards, and meeting deadlines-while mentoring and collaborating with other design team members.

Responsibilities

Design & Product Development

Lead the design process for seasonal collections in sizes 4-20, ensuring alignment with brand vision and client requirements. Create compelling assortments based on style plans, sales needs, and emerging market trends. Produce detailed flat sketches, colorways, and technical packages with accurate construction and trim specifications. Oversee sample execution, including daily communication with overseas vendors to ensure on-time, high-quality deliveries. Inspect and approve samples, providing clear fit, construction, and quality feedback. Identify and interpret industry trends, competitive landscape insights, and innovation opportunities for the brand. Plan and present seasonal concept boards, fabric direction, and key silhouette ideas. Ensure all account-specific requirements are met from design through production. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Merchandising, Sales, and Design Directors to ensure assortments meet concept direction, SKU plans, and styling needs. Work closely with Technical Design to guide fit corrections and ensure final product accuracy. Communicate product updates, corrections, and approvals to Production Coordinators and vendors. Collaborate with internal teams to deliver commercially viable, on-brand product lines. Organization & Leadership

Maintain organized sample, fabric, and trim libraries, as well as technical package archives. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers as needed. Foster a collaborative, fast-paced, and solutions-oriented work environment. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field. 7+ years of design and/or product development experience, with at least 5 years in children's apparel. Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, trims, and embellishments. Proven ability to deliver commercially successful designs from concept to final product. Excellent trend awareness and the ability to translate fashion inspiration into brand-right product. Exceptional technical design skills, including creating tech packs, flats, and detailed construction comments. Strong merchandising sensibility and a commercial design eye. Highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator; proficiency in Photoshop preferred. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills. Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Leadership presence with the ability to influence cross-functional teams. Experience presenting to executive leadership and clients.

Hybrid Work Schedule

4 days a week in the office, Fridays at home
