POSITION DUTIES

Patuxent Institution is a maximum-security state prison designed to provide remediation programs and services to male and female incarcerated individuals based upon current best practices. The Psychology Associate Doctorate, Correctional position is the doctorate, unlicensed level of professional work that is performed under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. The main purpose of this position is to provide direct psychological services to incarcerated individuals in one or more programs.




Such services may include, but are not limited to, the following:






Conducts risk assessments, diagnostic assessments, and other types of psychological assessments as assigned
Provides direct psychotherapeutic services to incarcerated individuals to include cognitive-behavioral group psychotherapy, individual therapy, and crisis intervention
May engage in research-related activities, supervision and training of unlicensed members of the psychology staff, and administrative supervision of other professional and clerical employees



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.
Education: A Doctorate degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university in a program acceptable to the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
Experience:None.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Prior to probationary appointment, candidates for this classification must meet all selection standards as set forth in the Code of Maryland Regulations by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission. Candidates who receive a probationary appointment must satisfactorily complete a prescribed training program prior to permanent appointment. Selection standards of the Correctional Training Commission may be obtained from the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.

Personal Leave - new State employees are awarded six (6) personnel days annually (prorated based on start date)
Annual Leave - ten (10) days of accumulated annual leave per year
Sick Leave - fifteen (15) days of accumulated sick leave per year
Parental Leave - up to sixty (60) days of paid parental leave upon the birth or adoption of a child
Holidays - State employees also celebrate at least twelve (12) holidays per year
Pension - State employees earn credit towards a retirement pension
