Role
The Strategic Market Relationship Management Team Lead (SVP Group Manager) holds senior management accountability for a multi-state book of business involving Workplace Investing Strategic Market corporate client relationships. The primary responsibility is to lead a team of 10 SVPs and Managing Directors (MDs) to ensure client satisfaction and retention. This role manages a portfolio of multi-product client relationships, including services such as Defined Contribution, Non-Qualified Plans, Defined Benefit, Equity Compensation, Health Savings Accounts, Managed Accounts, Health Solutions (including Health & Welfare), Self-Directed Brokerage, Workplace Consulting, and Emerging Products.
This position requires extensive ongoing contact with senior client decision-makers (CFO, CEO, SVP of HR) of existing and prospective clients. The SVP Group Manager also serves as a Supervisory Principal overseeing compliance for all registered representatives reporting directly to them.
Expertise and Skills Required
- Accountability for retention, dedication, happiness, and growth of the client book of business.
- Provide leadership, motivation, and support to MD team to achieve strong, balanced scorecard results aligned with client objectives and Fidelity priorities.
- Influence service models based on client goals and economic contribution to Fidelity.
- Enhance service delivery and develop client action plans to meet strategic business objectives.
- Develop and maintain robust client relationships across various constituencies including HR, Treasury, Legal, and Procurement.
- Lead client re-pricing, renewal, and rebid activities, collaborating with MDs and Rebid AEs.
- Coordinate with internal support organizations to ensure cross-functional accountability for client retention and loyalty.
- Engage with internal business leaders for joint planning and client strategies to achieve desired outcomes.
- Maintain relationships with regional and national consulting firms for negotiations and ongoing support.
- Act as Executive Sponsor for key clients, especially those with significant service concerns or requiring relationship upgrading based on risk mitigation.
- Identify and support personal development objectives for each MD to build skills and deliver business results.
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate team performance for career development.
- Lead efforts to build an inclusive, diverse, and empowered team culture.
- Cultivate relationships to ensure a strong talent pipeline.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulatory requirements.
Education and Experience
- College degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience managing institutional clients and driving growth required.
- Minimum of 5 years management experience required.
- Complete Series 7, 24, and 63 exams within 90 days of hire.
- Strong negotiation skills on financial and service topics, internal and external.
- Proven ability to influence senior business leaders across functions.
- Strong revenue management and financial acumen.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Leadership, coaching, and career development skills with a seasoned team.
- Consultative sales skills and excellent presentation and communication skills.
