SUMMARY: The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the daily operations of our 990 Valencia St. restaurant, ensuring compliance with the company standards in all areas of operation, including product preparation and delivery, customer relations, restaurant maintenance and repair, inventory management, team management, recruiting and retention of team members, and financial accountability. The Store Manager will ensure that the highest quality food and services are delivered to each guest. This restaurant management role requires a strong leader that can motivate, coach, and correct team members as necessary. Effective time management, organizational, and communication skills are also essential.

Management
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate a leadership style that creates a positive working environment by promoting high employee morale and encouraging full team involvement while upholding company culture, mission, and values
- Manage high-volume restaurant and create a work environment where people are treated fairly and feel welcomed
- Implement innovative strategies to improve productivity and sales
- Adhere to all of the company’s policies and procedures in an ethical manner.
- Ensure that team members are thoroughly trained in steps of service and that they make every effort to meet the needs of each and every guest.
- Engage with employees using a flexible approach that includes management, mentorship, and discipline as needed.
- Perform all duties related to weekly staff scheduling with effective labor allocation to meet business needs and labor budget.
- Effectively manage turnover by practicing effective selection and training and by treating people with respect
- Lead service education through daily stand-ups, daily evaluation of restaurant service performance, coordination of timely food production and presentation, and continuous feedback to team members including supervisors, cooks, dishwashers, and cashiers
- Have full knowledge of the Square POS system.
- Manage delivery apps including menu options, order management, turning on and off as needed
- Manage relationship with delivery couriers
- Handle menu updates at the restaurant as needed. (requires the ability to work basic photoshop)
- Observe the quality of food preparation and service, presentation, and cleanliness and sanitation of production and service areas, equipment, and employee appearance on an ongoing basis. Ensure all food safety procedures are strictly adhered to according to sanitary regulations
- Troubleshooting challenges that may occur, including, equipment problems, guest complaints, scheduling conflicts, wifi connectivity, trash service, and the cleaning company.
- Have a working knowledge of health codes, safe food temperatures, and the health inspection process
- Cover shifts as needed when team members call out
- Hands-on with regards to maintaining service and ensuring all stations are performing. Assist with meal breaks and rest breaks as needed
- Monitor and respond to online reviews (Yelp, Square, UberEats, DoorDash) for the restaurant
- Approximately 40% on floor supervisor duties and 60% admin
- 40-50 hours per week
- Manage and attain all sales and financial targets for food, labor, and controllable costs. Attend monthly P&L meetings
- Ensure adequate cash controls and recordkeeping (deposits, change, safe counts)
- Complete proper paperwork and reporting steps when there is an employee injury or guest incident.
- Completion of daily, weekly, and monthly operational, administrative, and HR-related duties.
- Providing relevant and timely feedback to Operations Manager on operating results
- Attend weekly meetings with the Operations Manager and monthly meetings with the upper management team
- Make recommendations and champion necessary changes to meet and exceed company objectives and to enhance service and operational efficiency.
- Review clock in punches in Humanity and accurately adjust payroll timesheets within set timelines for each pay period.
- Accurately track employee tips and ensure tip logs are completed and ready for submission to payroll
- Ensure compliance with meal break and rest period labor laws
- Analyze store pmix and make suggestions for improvement (bev & food). Includes suggestions for new items.
- Facilitate new menu item additions based on corporate decisions
- Proactively handle all staff and customer requests or concerns quickly with caring and fairness.
- Exercise good judgment when dealing with guest situations and complaints.
- Manage relationships with neighboring businesses and tenants
- Monitor product/supply levels and order from vendors in a timely manner.
- Conduct accurate and timely inventory counts.
- Manage controllable costs, including beer ordering and complimentary meals.
- Communicate par adjustments to the inventory manager
- Ensure all invoices relating to the restaurant are uploaded daily to the unit’s respective MarginEdge database.
- Monitor revenues for trends
- Attend P&L meetings and be prepared to discuss the results from operations and plans to improve
- Ongoing QC in store and for products coming in from commissary (communication with Mike about issues related to product quality)
- Analyze store pmix and make suggestions for improvement (bev & food). Includes suggestions for new items.
- Facilitate new menu item additions based on corporate decisions
- Ensure the restaurant’s appearance and cleanliness meets customer expectations by upholding the highest standards including sanitation levels, and facilities maintenance.
- Communicate issues to cleaning company in a timely manner
- Understand kitchen and restaurant equipment to report any issues that occur.
- Work directly with outside vendors to ensure all equipment is operating to standard. Manage process and services to acceptable completion
You have at least 2 years of previous store management experience in the foodservice arena.
You have strong leadership qualities

You are a friendly team-player with a positive attitude
Prior cooking experience and fluency in Spanish are a plus but not required.
You have a current Manager Food Safety Certificate (or you are willing to get one if you get hired).
You are able to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
