Position: Truck Driver
Starting Salary: Pay Grade 11 - starting salary $19.13
Work Hours: 40 hours a week

Perform a variety of skilled tasks in the operation and service of tractor/trailer to transport solid waste.
Supervision Received
Work under the general supervision of the Solid Waste Supervisor.
Supervision Exercised
None.
Essential Functions
Operate a tractor/trailer to haul solid waste from the waste transfer station to the landfill.
May operate snow removal and sanding equipment to remove snow, ice, etc. from roadways to maintain safe travel conditions within an assigned area; and apply ice control materials and chemicals on intersections, curves, hills and railroad crossings.
May operate loaders and compactors to process and move or cover waste and the transfer station, landfill or other locations as needed.
Perform daily preventive maintenance and routine repair procedures; assure proper fluid levels; perform various lubricating tasks as needed to assure proper operation; perform routine vehicle safety inspections.
May operate heavy equipment in a learning or training capacity or on a temporary basis as assigned.
Bonneville County has an expectation that employees maintain regular, reliable patterns in their work product and attendance
Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Education and Experience:
A. Graduation from high school;
AND
B. Two (2) years of experience performing the above or related duties.
OR
C. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Some knowledge of the principles and techniques of heavy mechanized equipment operations; hazards and safety standards common in medium and heavy equipment operation and maintenance and repair.
Skill in operation of tractor/trailer and light to medium duty equipment.
Ability to operate various kinds of light to medium duty equipment; perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time under varying conditions; follow instructions; establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
3. Special Qualifications:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Idaho Class "A" Commercial Drivers License.
- Must complete a Hazardous Waste Recognition Course annually.
4. Work Environment:
Work is typically performed outside with frequent exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, moving parts, and weather conditions. Tasks require variety of physical activities, involving muscular strain, such as walking, climbing standing, stooping, sitting, heavy lifting and reaching. Communicating, hearing and seeing required for completion of essential functions. Common eye, hand, finger, leg and foot dexterity required. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking. Constant travel in equipment required in job performance. Some daily aspects of the job pose threats or hazards capable of producing severe physical injury. The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Work requires the ability to lift/carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
