Anesthesiologist Opportunity At Southwestern Vermont Medical Center

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC), a member hospital of Dartmouth Health, is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Anesthesiologist to join a team of established anesthesiologists and anesthesiologist assistants. Opportunity highlights include:

  • An engaged anesthesiology team who are invested in teamwork and optimal patient outcomes
  • Manageable caseload with no cardiac or trauma cases
  • Diverse cases to include endoscopy, general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics, and urology
  • Salary Range $517,000 - $532,000
  • Incentive compensation may be available in addition to base salary
  • This position includes a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and CME support)
  • A sign-on bonus and relocation stipend may also be available, subject to eligibility
  • Eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PLSF) through 501 (c)(3) nonprofit status
  • 12 weeks of vacation, biannual CME allowance of $6,000, and malpractice insurance with tail coverage

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing clinical and related administrative services to ensure timely care of patients
  • Abiding by the Dartmouth Health Bylaws for the Professional Staff and Code of Conduct
  • Reviewing records and detailed medical history from patient(s)
  • Determining appropriate diagnosis (diagnoses) and treatment plan(s)
  • Determining and ordering appropriate screening and diagnostic tests and studies
  • Obtaining informed consent for treatment, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures and studies
  • Interpreting and evaluating test and study results
  • Prescribing medications, treatments, and medical devices in accordance with specialty scope of practice and applicable rules and regulations
  • Initiating referrals to other providers as necessary
  • Initiating admission/discharge of patients, if applicable
  • Providing consultation, education, and counseling regarding the management of acute and chronic illnesses and injuries
  • Encouraging behavioral change and assisting with self-management skills to improve overall health, within specialty scope of practice
  • Completing appropriate documentation in a timely manner
  • Providing patient and family-centered care
  • Insure the patient's right to privacy, confidentiality, and informed consent
  • Supervising APP's as directed
  • Participating in continuing medical education (CME)
  • Participating in quality and patient safety initiatives
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:

  • Advanced clinical degree (MD or DO)
  • Postgraduate training in residency program
  • Required licensure/certifications:
    • Current or eligible for Vermont Medical License
    • Current or eligible for ABMS Board Certification (to be obtained within 5 years)
    • Active hospital staff membership
