Safeco Insurance, part of Liberty Mutual's Personal Insurance business unit, is committed to providing superior property and casualty products nationwide through a network of independent agents. As a Territory Manager , you will manage an assigned territory, driving profitable premium growth and developing broad agency partnerships, potentially overseeing 200+ agencies across multiple states, optimizing territory performance.

Responsibilities:
  1. Own and manage assigned territory to achieve financial and operational targets.
  2. Lead agency management processes across multiple territories, including prospecting, business planning, engagement, training, and building mutually beneficial partnerships virtually with agency staff.
  3. Establish yourself as a trusted advisor, delivering product, underwriting, and system training, supporting retention and new business development to maximize agency revenue.
  4. Create and execute agency strategies based on analysis, insights, and marketplace expertise to meet premium, profit, and growth goals.
  5. Align plans with key business strategies, including carrier consolidation, agency expansion, marketing, and new product rollout.
  6. Under limited to moderate supervision, ensure quality of new business, appropriate book mix, and overall risk management.
  7. Provide clarity on market appetite, address profit or quality concerns, and support profitability across the territory.
  8. Collaborate with internal partners to identify opportunities, solve problems, and share industry insights.
  9. Partner with Personal or Business Lines counterparts for shared agency management.
  10. Utilize programs and tools to support agency management, including marketing, development, and data analysis tools.
  11. Contribute ideas for continuous improvement and provide guidance on agency initiatives.

Candidates residing within 50 miles of a hub office are required to work in-office once a week; this policy is subject to change.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; minimum three years in insurance within a carrier or agency.
  • Knowledge of insurance products, marketing, and industry trends.
  • Experience with revenue growth and sales success.
  • Proven partnership development, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of production management, claims, underwriting, and agency operations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical, business development, and time management skills.
  • State licensing as required.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, including occasional overnight stays.
