Emergency Lighting Specialist
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Emergency Lighting Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing security patrol vehicles, former Police Cruisers. The ideal candidate has a strong background in automotive or diesel mechanics, with specific knowledge of emergency vehicle systems, equipment, and lighting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on emergency vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain emergency vehicle equipment such as sirens, lights, radios, and on-board computers.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure all vehicles meet local, state, and federal compliance standards.
- Maintain accurate service records, logs, and inspection reports.
- Collaborate with departments to schedule vehicle downtime and prioritize urgent repairs.
- Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements in emergency vehicle systems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (vocational training or ASE certification preferred).
- 3+ years of experience as an automotive or emergency vehicle technician.
- Working knowledge of gas and diesel engines, electrical systems, and emergency vehicle equipment.
- EVT Certification (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe).
- Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or may be required).
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in urgent situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE certifications (Automobile/Light Truck or Medium-Heavy Truck).
- Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification levels I-III.
- Experience with NFPA, DOT, and OSHA vehicle standards.
- Familiarity with onboard diagnostic (OBD) tools and fleet management software.
Working Conditions: This position may require working in various weather conditions, on-call hours, and occasional overtime. Physical demands include lifting heavy components, standing for long periods, and working in confined spaces. Compensation: To be determined by CEO, Full Time workers are eligible for Health Insurance.
