Job Overview: We are looking for an inspired, innovative AVP Tech Lead for our cloud transformation journey, with a background in developing high throughput, mission-critical business applications, leveraging AWS technologies with Angular, .Net, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. The individual will need to be well-versed in financial, trading, and advisory technologies. As a trusted technology leader, you will work with cross-functional teams to ensure development, deliver quality, and meet deadlines. This is a hands-on, technical lead role in the trading organization that will design, architect, and develop cloud-native and on-prem services to support LPL’s cloud strategy and transformation.
The candidate will serve as a solution expert, working independently, responsible for development and delivery of critical trading applications meeting business goals. You will join and lead a high-velocity, multi-functional development team focused on large-scale, multi-year programs. The role requires flexible thinking to integrate existing business and technology concepts with innovative design to deliver a practical and scalable platform.
Responsibilities:
Lead a tech team to design, develop, test, and implement technical solutions based on business requirements and strategic direction utilizing AWS cloud native technologies (EC2, S3, ECS, EKS, ELB, RDS, R53, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS).
Deep understanding and experience with cloud migration strategies with AWS and end-to-end SDLC.
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including architecture, data, product, and business partners, and strategize to scale and modernize existing trading platforms.
Collaborate with quality assurance, DevOps, and PMO to ensure SDLC processes and Agile practices are followed.
Code and implement guardrails to enable self-service and frictionless delivery for teams building and owning applications/services in the cloud.
Formulate workable solutions to complex challenges, analyzing and challenging assumptions, discerning hidden value, and evaluating evidence.
Measure success through say/do, velocity, defect remediation, and clear value to trading platforms.
Provide technical leadership through design and implementation of industry best practices, adhering to modernization, cloud, SDLC, and release management standards.
Support, troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance trading platforms/applications in production.
Ensure system/application availability and service level agreements, covering contingency activities to prevent disruptions.
Requirements:
8+ years of experience owning and driving full-stack applications as a hands-on Engineering Tech Lead, guiding and delivering development efforts.
6+ years of experience with deploying/migrating on-prem Windows services, .Net apps, and databases to AWS.
6+ years of experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
6+ years of experience in financial services, especially capital markets and trading flows.
Proficiency in .NET Framework, C#, .Net Core, SQL Server, and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
Experience with Angular and SPA UI frameworks.
Strong background in improving application resiliency, scalability, and performance.
BSc in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Core Competencies:
Experience supporting mission-critical applications.
Excellent communication skills, technical and non-technical.
Strong analytical, estimation, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to engage with senior executives and stakeholders.
Effective planning, prioritization, and resource management.
Experience working with offshore teams and in Agile environments.
Preferences:
Experience in trading domain, backend trading, and order workflows.
Experience with on-prem to cloud migration/transformation.
Experience with global delivery teams.
