The Perinatal Educator-CPR Instructor is responsible for providing education to expectant parents about childbirth and early parenting. This role includes collaborating with the Childbirth Education Coordinator to evaluate and update the curriculum, ensuring that educational content reflects current practices and meets the needs of students. The educator promotes professional development and effective communication skills, while empowering participants to make informed decisions related to prenatal care.
Under the supervision of the Childbirth Education Coordinator, the Perinatal Educator is responsible for providing education to patients related to preparing for birth and early parenting. The Perinatal Educator in this role would be responsible for collaborating with the Childbirth Education Coordinator to evaluate and update the curriculum to ensure the continuance of a quality instructional program that supports expecting parent, infants, and other family members.

~Facilitates and models development of critical thinking, problem solving, and communications skills among the students

~Collaborates with Childbirth Education Coordinator to assure that appropriate level of instruction and content is planned and executed.
~Assists in the review of class content to assure the information provided accurately reflects current practice and evidence
~Serves as a recourse for staff regarding community services available to prenatal patients
~Collaborates on department projects and education of patients and staff as it pertains to prenatal care, childbirth, and lactation services
~Reinforces behaviors consistent with customer service standards.
~Supports leadership in ensuring that excellent customer service standards are met
~Assists in the care and maintenance of instructional materials, equipment and class records, must demonstrate the ability to use the appropriate IT equipment for teaching purposes and demonstrate the ability to pivot from in person to an online platform with ease
~Negotiates a personal development plan based on self-evaluation and peer review
~EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
Greater than 2 years clinical experience in Maternal Child Health Experience in Perinatal Education Preferred
Certification in American Heart Association CPR Current Professional License/Certification as appropriate for the teaching assignment National Certification in Childbirth Education Preferred
Outstanding personal and communication skills required.
AHA Certified in Infant Child CPR required.
