Accounting Specialist
We are looking for a dedicated Accounting Specialist for our client located in New Orleans, Louisiana. This short-term contract to full time position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a thriving retail organization while developing your accounting skills. The role involves a range of responsibilities across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting support, all within a collaborative and dynamic team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Process vendor invoices, manage disbursement filing, and ensure accurate matching and filing of accounts payable documentation.
- Handle accounts receivable tasks including daily invoice processing, cash receipt application, and assisting with the collection of overdue balances.
- Participate in general accounting activities such as reconciling general ledger accounts, supporting month-end closings, and completing ad hoc projects.
- Review and correct transaction documents, revising entries and initiating necessary follow-up actions.
- Classify expenditures and accounting codes accurately when coding documents.
- Compile and prepare financial statements and reports using diverse data sources.
- Record financial transactions in journals, registers, and ledgers using manual or electronic systems.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies through detailed analysis and preparation of correction documentation.
- Monitor budgets and assist in budget control by verifying adjustments and transfers.
- Contribute to special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in data entry with exceptional accuracy.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- High level of attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Prior experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or related accounting functions is advantageous.
