SUMMARY:The Senior Payroll Analyst reports to the Payroll Manager. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for all payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The role involves working directly with the finance and human resources departments, as well as a third-party vendor, to ensure accurate and timely remittance of all taxes.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Accounting or a related field required; or in lieu of degree, three years of related experience in finance or accounting.
- American Payroll Association certification (FPC or CPP) required or completion within one year of hire. Certification maintenance is required.
- Knowledge of payroll processes, including pay calculations, tax, geographical location (state, territory, etc.), and taxation rules.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical and math skills to validate and perform payroll calculations.
- ADP Enterprise system knowledge preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with experience using third-party tax research tools.
- Minimum of three years payroll tax experience, including federal and multi-state.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain government unemployment and locality tax in the payroll system.
- Research and review tax compliance, providing recommendations to the manager.
- Review weekly tax audit reports and process tax amendments.
- Participate in testing and validating ADP tax updates to ensure system integrity.
- Maintain multi-state and Nexus taxation compliance, including auditing employee work locations.
- Determine taxation for foreign national employees using Tax Navigator software.
- Perform weekly tax/wage reconciliations to ensure correct tax withholding.
- Conduct quarterly and year-end tax reconciliations to validate accuracy between payroll system and third-party vendor.
- Reconcile W-2s, ensuring accurate and timely issuance.
- Research and reconcile federal/state tax notices, reporting findings to Payroll manager and finance.
- Develop and deliver training and communications across organization levels.
- Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to solve complex payroll tax issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Work is performed in a typical office environment, requiring extended periods of sitting, walking, and/or standing.
