The primary responsibility of a Cash Applications Specialist is to process incoming payments accurately and efficiently, ensuring that they are correctly applied to customer accounts with a strong emphasis on problem solving in a fast-paced high-volume environment. Daily processing of cash receipts includes posting payments made by billing system, credit card, lockbox, mailed checks, and bank ACH payments, bank wires. Identifying and addressing daily unapplied amounts, ensuring they are posted to customer accounts and when necessary, follow up with Unapplied Payments Specialist.
Record maintenance includes maintaining accurate records for auditing purposes. This includes filing remittances, check copies, and daily reporting to Treasury Manager. Other daily tasks include processing NSF payments and payment and reverse from customer accounts, recording any refunds issued to customers, processing any money moved between customer's accounts or posted improperly, and processing any lockbox exceptions. Collaborating with Treasury Management and the Collections department, addressing any relevant issues related to cash receipts, applications, and reaching out to customers to resolve account issues.
Requirements and qualifications include education with relevant degrees such as an associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field are preferred or high school diploma with strong math skills. Desired skills include familiarity with banking policies, online systems, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), and accounts receivable concepts with strong math skills and problem solving. Must be able to work accurately and independently in a fast-paced high volume environment. Candidates with 2 or more years of Cash Application and customer service experience are preferred.
IWS's base pay actually offered takes into account a range of factors including, but not limited to, internal equity, the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, and other business and organizational needs. This role is not bonus eligible as part of the compensation package. IWS employees are eligible to participate in our benefits plan.
