Senior Accountant

Job Title: Senior Accountant (Contract)
Location: Onsite - Northeast San Antonio

Pay Rate: $40-$50/hour
Term: 6-month contract (starting October 2025)
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant (Contract) to support accounting operations for a reputable Credit Union and its affiliated Service Organizations (CUSOs). This role is ideal for someone with strong general ledger and financial reporting experience, the ability to navigate complex reconciliations, and a deep understanding of GAAP. You'll play a critical role in preparing executive-level financial statements, submitting federal reports, and supporting audits.
Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare complex general ledger entries and financial statements for executive and board-level review
• Reconcile complex accounts and resolve outages promptly
• Submit federally required reports to the Federal Reserve Bank
• Assist with internal and external audits in collaboration with the Financial Reporting team
• Research and explain variances in financial accounts
• Manage and organize large volumes of financial information efficiently
• Take initiative in learning new tasks and act as a problem-solver
• Support critical accounting functions including high-value wires and system adjustments
• Cross-train to support essential roles and provide coverage when needed

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision
• Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience in the financial services industry preferred
• Comfortable collaborating across departments and supporting audit processes
