Position Summary:

The Assistant Director for Academic Initiatives and Experiential Learning is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position reporting to the Director for Residence Life. The Assistant Director for Academic Initiatives and Experiential Learning works closely with other professionals in the administration and management of a comprehensive housing and residence life program that serves 5700+ on-campus students. This position has the responsibility for general administration oversight and management of, that includes but is not limited to, academic initiatives, Faculty In-Residence, Living Learning Communities (LLCs), Theme/Special interest Housing, large scale Residential programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Masters Degree with concentration in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Facilities Management, or related field.
• A minimum of four years of full-time experience working in Housing and Residential Programs (Residence Life).

Academic Initiatives

Essential Tasks:

• Faculty In-Residence- actively recruit and training new and returning faculty for the faculty-in residence program.
• Collaborate with campus partners, academic colleges in the creation, facilitation, and development of existing and new living-learning communities.
• Marketing and recruit residential students for living-learning communities and themed/special interest housing.
• Responsible for the overall coordination, development, and implementation of programs and initiatives related to residential students academic success.
• Coordinate Annual House Calls initiative.
• Serve as the liaison to the Residential Colleges.
• Serves as the department lead for Residential Curriculum.

Supervision and Leadership

Essential Tasks:

• Supervise, train, and evaluate 3-4 full-time, live-in, masters level coordinators for residence Life.
• Articulate vision, mission, and goals for the area, department, and division.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and assessment of departmental goals and initiatives.
• Conduct regular one-on- one meetings with staff.
• Provide appropriate referrals to other university departments/resources as needed.
• Oversee department committees.
• Serve on an on-call duty rotation for 5,700 residents.

• Assist in the overall direction and strategic planning of short- and long-term goals of Residence Life.
• Maintain accurate accounting of allocated funds and expenditures.
• Work cooperatively with other staff members, departments, and offices across the University to foster strong partnerships.
