$110,000 - $120,000 annually
Position Overview
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking
two experienced Business Analysts (Level 2 - Emerging Technology)
to support a variety of technology and innovation projects that directly impact the agency's mission, goals, and daily operations. These roles will work closely with project and development teams to improve agency effectiveness, ensure compliance with applicable statutes, and enhance service delivery capabilities.
This hybrid position requires strong expertise in requirements gathering, user story development, and business process analysis, with the ability to translate complex needs into actionable technical deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate the collection and documentation of
themes, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria
in alignment with DPS standards. Convert existing
use cases
into actionable
user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria
within Jira. Analyze existing process documentation to identify opportunities for improved operational effectiveness and efficiency. Collaborate with stakeholders, project managers, and developers to define and prioritize requirements for new and ongoing initiatives. Support the development and implementation of projects aimed at enhancing service delivery and operational compliance. Participate in quality assurance discussions, assisting in story point estimation to support predictive level-of-effort models. Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a
Business Analyst
with a focus on technology or innovation projects. Strong knowledge of
Agile methodologies
and experience working with Jira for requirements management. Demonstrated ability to document and translate complex requirements into actionable deliverables. Skilled in business process analysis and identifying efficiency improvements. Excellent communication and facilitation skills for working with cross-functional teams. Preferred
Experience in
public safety, government, or regulatory environments . Familiarity with emerging technology initiatives and modernization projects. Work Environment
Hybrid Role:
Combination of onsite and remote work, as determined by DPS needs. Salary:
$110,000 - $120,000 annually.
