SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Supervisor or Manager, performs a variety of clinical and clerical tasks in support of clinical care activities in a dental environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: Implements standard infection prevention measures, such as hand hygiene and surface decontamination, in accordance with Health System infection prevention
policy.
Anticipates and prepares equipment, material, and supply needs in consideration of patient/procedure complexity in support of timely and efficient clinic operations and provider
schedules.
Contacts patients to schedule/reschedule patient appointments. Maintains accurate demographic information in the scheduling system.
Maintains inventory of equipment, instruments and supplies. Assists with
replacements/repairs.
Maximizes room utilization through inventory, stocking, cleaning of operatories, and daily preparation of dental
units.
Notifies of patient arrival and escorts patients through the clinic. Provides special assistance for non-ambulatory patients. Follows standard clinical safety protocol for Patient Identification Verification.
Collects data for quality
improvement/departmental
studies. Supports and assists in research as directed.
Enters patient data into the electronic medical record. Reviews discharge instructions with patient as prepared by provider.
Performs basic dental laboratory procedures such as model pouring for dentures and partials. Performs other dental assisting tasks when educated and with the appropriate level of supervision.
Performs any other clerical duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: None
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and computer experience preferred

CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
