Research Assistant II

The Gibbs and Wang Labs in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon, USA are recruiting a Research Assistant II to work on an NIH funded project to evaluate the utility of novel fluorescent probes for precision medicine. The ideal candidate will have a background in biomedical engineering, molecular biology, chemical biology or molecular imaging. The position will require a variety of laboratory skills, including cell culture, molecular biology, fluorescence microscopy and image analysis. We are looking for a skilled, motivated scientist to join our highly translational and multidisciplinary team. Protein synthesis and bioconjugation Immunostaining and imaging Fluorescence microscopy and image analysis Attendance and presentation at lab meetings, contributions to publications and applications for funding (writing, figures, data) Required Qualifications

Bachelor's in relevant field OR Associate's AND 3 years of relevant experience OR 4 years of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experience Cell culture, molecule biology, fluorescence microscopy, image analysis Hands-on experiences with mammalian cells and E. coli Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (western blotting, PCR) Familiarity with bioconjugation methods (click chemistry, NHS ester, maleimide) Experience with fluorescence microscopy (confocal, widefield) Experience with ImageJ, MATLAB, ZEISS software Attention to detail in experimental setup and record keeping Ability to troubleshoot protocols and instrument issues Strong written and verbal communication for lab meetings, reports and publications Preferred Qualifications

B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology or related scientific discipline. Additional Details

This position is located at OHSU's south waterfront campus (RLSB and KCRB); work hours are 8:00am

5:00pm with occasional evening and weekend work as needed. All Are Welcome
