Renewables Engineering Intern
WEC Energy Group is seeking a Renewables Engineering Intern starting May 2026. This position can be located within a reasonable drive to any of our WEC Energy Group locations in WI, IL, IA, SD, NE, and KS, depending on experience. This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time spent in the office. The starting hourly rate for this position is $22.00 with paid company holidays. This internship is full-time during the Summer of 2026 with the potential to work part-time during the fall. We employ students for summer and year-round opportunities to help design creative cost effective systems and equipment that keep the energy flowing to our customers in a safe and reliable manner. WEC Energy Group offers a variety of engineering opportunities for students seeking hands-on experience that are currently enrolled in a four-year degree program. Below is an overview of functional areas where we typically have students. Students work with experienced members of these functional teams. Job Responsibilities
Support wind projects, including observing field activities, updating equipment records, and assessing performance of turbines. Support PV Solar projects operational performance and optimization. Review and revise technical documentation and drawings. Perform ad hoc investigations of emergent equipment issues. Use available data to investigate performance or reliability issues within the wind and solar fleets. Provide general engineering support to PG-Renewables group Track ongoing tasks across sites and support engineers and supervisors Travel to generation sites in remote locations in WI, MI, IA, or IL Alternate between remote and office work as needed (hybrid setting) Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma, HSED, or GED Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or related engineering major with a graduation date after June 2026 Minimum GPA of 2.8 Valid Driver's License is required Preferred Qualifications
Interest in Renewables, including any course work or involvement within the field Experience working in a hybrid setting Sophomore standing or higher is preferred
