Assistant Professor/Clinical Position

The Medical Laboratory Sciences Program within the Department of Health Sciences at the UT Health San Antonio invites applications for a full-time (12 month) faculty position. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a dynamic, NAACLS-accredited academic program that offers both Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) degrees in Medical Laboratory Sciences. Applicants will be considered for this full-time faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor/Clinical, non-tenure-track in the School of Health Professions. Primary responsibilities: Develop, prepare, and deliver high-quality didactic and laboratory instruction in upper-division undergraduate and graduate courses, with emphasis in one or more of the following areas: Core Laboratory, Clinical Chemistry, Immunology, and/or Molecular Diagnostics. Manage laboratory teaching materials, instrumentation, and supplies to ensure safe and effective laboratory instruction. Assist with laboratory preparation as needed. Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback in both lecture and laboratory settings. Contribute to the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of curriculum and instructional materials. Engage in scholarly activities, including independent or collaborative research with potential for peer-reviewed publication and external funding. Participate in departmental, university, and professional service activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualified candidates must have: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS(ASCP); and A minimum of a master's degree in an MLS-appropriate discipline, Doctorate in Clinical Laboratory Sciences (DCLS) or PhD in Science preferred; and Teaching experience in an academic-based, NAACLS-accredited, medical laboratory science education program. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Department of Health Sciences is one of seven departments in the School of Health Professions.
