Institutional Research Data Analyst
The Institutional Research Data Analyst is a temporary, part-time, hourly position that works as part of a small team to compile and analyze data for the University's programs of institutional research, institutional effectiveness, and external reporting. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, this position collects data, analyzes trends, and develops data visualizations. The position also assists with fulfilling external reporting requirements, responding to ad hoc data requests, and performing various quantitative analyses. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Compiles data required by external reporting authorities (IPEDS, ICUT, BGCT, THECB, NCAA, etc.) Provides information and analyses to support University initiatives in enrollment, retention, compliance (SACS, NCAA, etc.), and other areas Generates data for ad hoc requests for information from internal and external constituents Produces high-quality reports, studies, slide decks, and data visualizations, including the development and maintenance of dashboards for commonly-requested data Performs other duties as assigned by the Director Qualification Requirements: Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred; experience in institutional research preferred, preferably at a private university. At least one year of SAS programming experience strongly preferred (SAS Programming certification preferred). High standards of integrity, ethical conduct, and confidentiality Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, etc.); advanced Excel skills required Proven statistical analysis skills, including proficiency with a data science programming language such as SAS, SQL, R, Python, etc., required Proficiency with SAS Software (Base, Macro, SQL)
SAS Programming certification preferred Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI) and reporting automation tools (Argos) preferred Working knowledge of Banner preferred Ability to multi-task with a proven ability to meet deadlines Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to convey complex data in an organized and easily understandable manner Familiarity with data privacy laws such as FERPA, GDPR, or other relevant regulations preferred Commitment to customer service In addition, the successful candidate will be professional, self-reliant, proactive, enthusiastic, and will make a positive impression on others.
