Qualifications Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR, or significant experience with HRIS and ATS platforms is strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred). 3+ years of progressive HR experience Demonstrates expertise in strategic HR planning and execution. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws, compliance, and HR best practices. Proven experience in conflict resolution and maintaining a positive work environment. Hands-on experience with Paylocity HRIS, including system administration, reporting, and process optimization. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Proven ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization. Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze and interpret HR metrics. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging workplace culture.
Benefits Competitive compensation and benefits package. Full-time: Salary $90,000-$110,000 annually 2 week organization holiday shutdown, spring break shutdown, 10 paid holidays, and PTO accrual.
About Miriam School and Learning Center Miriam is the premier educational hub for children with learning differences in the St. Louis area. We empower each unique learner by building confidence and laying a foundation for success at our K-12 school, as well as through our outreach programs. Miriam takes students and their families on a journey to see how their differences are actually strengths. Our students' challenges often include specific learning disabilities, ADHD, level 1 autism, speech/language disorders, anxiety and sensory processing differences. Miriam provides truly personalized education – including academics, therapies and social skills – to ensure each student reaches their full potential. Some students are here only a few years, while others attend Miriam School for their entire educational journey. Regardless of their length of stay, students leave Miriam equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed.
About the Role We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Human Resources to lead our HR team and drive organizational success. This full-time role is responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that align with our mission, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture, and ensuring compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in strategic planning, strong knowledge of employment law, expertise in conflict resolution, excellent interpersonal skills, and hands-on experience with Paylocity HRIS.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the organization's mission and business objectives, with a focus on talent acquisition, talent management, onboarding, orientation, training, insurance and benefit management, employee engagement and relations, and organizational development. Lead workforce planning, succession planning, and talent management initiatives to support business growth and operational excellence. Oversee the administration and optimization of Paylocity, ensuring accurate HR data management, payroll processing, benefits administration, and reporting. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of employment law and HR best practices. Manage employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution processes to maintain a positive and productive work environment. Partner with senior leadership to identify HR priorities and deliver solutions that drive business results. Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives to create a welcoming and high-performing workplace. Analyze HR metrics and data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement. Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
