Spanish Language Coach/Scribe
plays a critical role in enhancing the ability of our Family Medicine Residents to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate care for individuals with limited English proficiency, with funding from the University of North Carolina (UNC) in the form of a 5-year grant “Primary Care Training and Enhancement – Language and Disability Access,” (PCTE-LDA). In addition, the
Spanish Language Coach/Scribe
may assist medical providers by observing and documenting patient encounters in the electronic health record by documenting clinical information and patient-provider interactions, reviewing record histories, physical exams, assessments, and plans of care as directed by the provider. The Medical Scribe(s) primary site of assignment will be either Siler City Community Health Center or Prospect Hill Community Health Center although they may be required to float to other Piedmont Health Services’ locations, as needed. The positions will be extended for an initial period of one-year, renewable contingent upon funding from UNC. English and Spanish proficiency is a requirement.
Qualifications - Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Public Health, Liberal Arts, or related field; Experience: Experience as a Spanish Language Tutor role, preferred; Certification in Alta Spanish Language Interpretation, preferred; Experience with underserved populations from diverse cultural backgrounds; Strong understanding of U.S. healthcare systems and medical terminology; Compassionate and culturally sensitive approach to coaching; Experience working with immigrant populations, preferred; Professional fluency in English and Spanish; Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Commitment to serving low-income, uninsured, and diverse communities; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Aptitude for problem solving; Familiarity with medical terminology and clinical workflows; Ability to work well independently and collaboratively; Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment; Empathetic, respectful, and patient centered approach to care; Excellent data entry skills; Ability to incorporate constructive feedback and learn on the job; Proficient in Microsoft Office; Bilingual in Spanish and English. Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date prior to beginning employment. Pay Range:
