Job Description

About Us At The Caffeinated Accountant, we’re not your traditional, buttoned-up accounting firm. We’re fully remote (with just a splash of in-person when needed), built around white glove service, proactive communication, and treating clients like the VIPs they are. We specialize in full-service outsourced accounting — from bookkeeping and month-end close to CFO strategy and tax planning. We believe accounting should be clear, caring, and yes — a little caffeinated. --- About the Role We’re on the hunt for a detail-loving, client-first Bookkeeper based in the St. Louis area who’s just as comfortable reconciling accounts as they are building strong client relationships. This hybrid role is 75% remote and 25% in-person, depending on client and internal needs. You'll work directly with the firm owner, taking full ownership of the bookkeeping function for multiple clients — including client communication, document collection, data entry, reconciliations, and month-end close. This is a client-facing position, so professionalism, empathy, and responsiveness are just as important as QuickBooks savvy. But here’s the big difference: we don’t just hand over financials — we aim to deliver clear, timely, decision-ready numbers that help clients confidently run their businesses. We’re not historians of the past… we're storytellers of their present and future. --- What You’ll Do · Own the bookkeeping process for multiple clients (QuickBooks Online, primarily) · Manage client communications, document retrieval, and occasional check-ins · Perform monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close tasks · Deliver financial statements on time — with clarity and insight baked in · Support tax preparation with data entry and client coordination · Work with our team to interpret financial results and tell the story behind the numbers · Help maintain our high-touch, responsive, and approachable client experience · Be part of a growing, supportive team that cares about doing work that matters --- What You Bring · 3–5 years of solid bookkeeping experience (QBO proficiency preferred) · At least 1 year of tax prep or data entry experience during tax season · Comfort speaking directly with business owners — and treating them like gold · A commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and compassion (yes, accounting can be human!) · Ability to juggle multiple clients and deadlines without dropping the ball · Local to St. Louis, MO with flexibility for occasional on-site meetings · Bonus points if you love coffee and spreadsheets equally --- This Isn’t Just a Job — It’s a Role With Impact You won’t be stuck doing mindless data entry or chasing invoices all day. You’ll play a key part in helping small businesses thrive — not just by balancing books, but by helping them understand the “why” behind the numbers.
